We have been producing Angus cattle for 15 years and have developed into a few purebred cattle to produce some bulls. This allows our closed herd policy to include male as well as female cattle.

We aim to breed better cattle for a premium market that are easy to handle and produce high quality meat as efficiently as possible. A few heifers were purchased and some embryos imported to start a herd of high performance cattle and we have enough now to breed bulls and females for our own herd and for sale.

Breed improvement has continued using semen selected from top performing bulls. We only select bulls in the top 10% of the breed if we are buying in and bulls for sale on the farm are in the top of the breed. Surplus bulls for sale on the farm, we keep around 5 bull calves every year and bring them on to 2 years old.

Blackhaugh Ribmaker

Blackhaugh Ribmaker

Blackhaugh Ribmaker sadly died in 2017. He played a big part in progressing our herd in the direction we wanted to go, a fantastic bull who bred extremely well for us and has established traits in our herd that are important to us; high growth rates and a productive female line.  He will be a big miss.
